Bill Wiatrowski
Bill Wiatrowski became Deputy Commissioner in 2015. He served as Acting Commissioner from January 2017 to March 2019, March 2023 to January 2024, and August 2025 to the present. He previously served as Associate Commissioner of the Office of Compensation and Working Conditions from 2005 to 2015. Before that he was Assistant Commissioner for the Occupational Safety and Health Statistics programs and held a number of staff and supervisory positions in the BLS pay and benefit programs.
Joshua Coutts
Josh has been a geographer with the U.S. Census Bureau since 2005 and served as a subject matter expert for tribal geographies, statistical areas, and Island Area geographic operations.

Mike Tischler
Dr. Michael Tischler is the acting Associate Director of the Core Science Systems Mission Area at the U.S. Geological Survey. The CSS Mission Area serves as the primary national civilian mapping agency, including topographic mapping for Federal and State requirements, national geospatial governance coordination, Landsat satellite operations, and providing research and high-performance compute resources. Dr. Tischler oversees the programs responsible for these capabilities including the National Geospatial Program, National Land Imaging Program, Federal Geospatial Data Committee, and the Science Analytics and Synthesis Program. Dr. Tischler also provides executive oversight of two world-class operational facilities – the Earth Resources Observation and Science Center (EROS), and the National Geospatial Technical Operations Center (NGTOC). Dr. Tischler holds a B.S. in Soil Science from North Dakota State University, a M.S. in Soil and Water Science from the University of Florida, and a Ph.D in Earth Systems and and Geoinformation Science from George Mason University.
Katie Baynes
Katie Baynes is the Earth Data Officer and Senior Agency Official for Geospatial Information at NASA Headquarters, where she leads the Earth Science Data Systems program. She oversees NASA's Earth observation data strategy across a 150-petabyte archive -- including cloud migration, AI integration, and interoperability initiatives anchored to federal open science policy. Katie works at the intersection of data governance, technology, and public stewardship, translating complex systems challenges into policy-relevant decisions for science and society.
Sallie Keller
Dr. Sallie Ann Keller is chief scientist and associate director of the U.S. Census Bureau’s Research and Methodology Directorate, where she leads enterprise-wide collaborations to develop innovative scientific solutions that advance economic and social measurement. A nationally recognized research scientist, her expertise spans social and decision informatics, the statistical foundations of data science, and data access and confidentiality.
Carla Medalia
Carla Medalia is the Senior Technical Advisor to the Chief Scientist and Associate Director of Research and Methodology at the U.S. Census Bureau. She is a leading expert on cutting-edge statistical and data science research on leveraging administrative records and commercial data to create stakeholder-driven statistical products and improve the way the Census Bureau collects, produces, and disseminates data. She is co-chair of the Federal Committee on Statistical Methodology and has a Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography from the University of Pennsylvania.
Chase Sawyer
Chase Sawyer is a Technical Lead for Data Product Development at the U.S. Census Bureau. He designs and delivers production-scale statistical and geospatial data products that translate Census microdata into actionable insights that support disaster analysis across all U.S. counties.
Dr. Lori Zehr
Lori Zehr serves as the Senior Technical Lead for the Frames Program at the U.S. Census Bureau, supporting the modernization of the Census Bureau’s Enterprise Frames data infrastructure to strengthen and advance its core programs. In this role, she provides technical leadership across four foundational units of measurement: addresses, businesses, jobs, and people. Her work is driven by deep expertise in administrative records and third-party data sources, with a strong focus on applying those data responsibly and meaningfully to support the agency’s mission. She has a Ph.D. in Sociology with a focus on family demography from the University of Maryland College Park.
Ryan Burley
Ryan serves as the Director of Business Development for GeoSolutions in North America, supporting all levels of government and several industry sectors in their operational use of open-source geospatial and hybrid deployments - specifically those involving GeoServer, GeoNode, and/or MapStore. Ryan holds a master's degree in Homeland Security - GEOINT from Penn State University and BA in Geography/GIS from University of Washington.
Erika Becker-Medina
Erika Becker-Medina is a Senior Leader for Statistical Information Product Development & Use at the U.S. Census Bureau, where she leads enterprise efforts to modernize statistical products and strengthen stakeholder engagement. Her work focuses on ensuring federal data is not only produced—but understood and used.
Jason Newmoyer
Jason Newmoyer is the Chief Executive Officer of NGS LLC, a geospatial software and services company focused on delivering flexible, open ecosystem solutions for federal government missions. He has extensive experience leading teams that design, integrate, and operate geospatial platforms supporting real-world federal use cases across defense and civilian agencies. His work emphasizes practical implementation, mission alignment, and long-term sustainability of geospatial systems in complex government environments.
Eddie Pickle
Eddie Pickle is a highly accomplished executive in the public sector, open-source software, and geospatial technology industries, with a career spanning over three decades. He currently serves as a Senior District Manager for Snowflake, a role he assumed following Snowflake's acquisition of Crunchy Data, where he was the Senior Vice President, Public Sector. At Crunchy Data, he led the company's engagement with US government organizations and agencies, bringing over 30 years of experience in geospatial and open-source software to the leading provider of open-source PostgreSQL technology. Mr. Pickle’s open-source career began with pioneering geospatial leader OpenGeo. He went on to serve as the founding CEO when OpenGeo became Boundless Spatial, a leading provider of open-source product support and training, which was later acquired by Planet. Throughout his career, he has worked with commercial, government, and NGO organizations worldwide, serving in roles such as site location specialist, market segmentation analyst, program manager, and critical infrastructure data expert. A dedicated community builder, Mr. Pickle co-founded the popular FedGeoDay and FOSS4G North America conferences. He also serves as the Secretary of the American Geographical Society (celebrating its 175th anniversary in 2026). Mr. Pickle holds an MA degree in Geography from UCLA, where he was a National Science Foundation Fellow, and a BA in Geography from the University of Tennessee.
